"Euphemism" 18''x24'' (45.72cm/60.96cm) is a piece Nowlin actually stretched and painted all within a two day span during his Residency with The Arts Student League of NY back in March. The mixture of collage, serigraphy, latex paint and watercolor work to make a compelling visual.
Based on The St. Theodosius Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Cleveland, Ohio, this mixed media work from Nowlin focuses on color and texture to illustrate a unique perspective on the historical landmark. The St. Theodosius Cathedral is an oil on canvas 18"x24" (45.72cm/60.96cm).
Madonna And The Indigo Child. 91.44cm x 121.92cm
Madonna is a piece based off of the extraordinary life of Nowlin's Grandmother. Who was an accomplished singer, pianist, mother and avid rock collector.
The mixed media work also serves as the matriarch in a series of works based on the origins of the artists past.
55.88cm x 71.12cm Oil on canvas.
Based off a photograph acquired by the artist. Made during his Residency at The Art Students League Of New York Vytlacil estate in Orangeburg, NY
It combines the reference of digital communication with expressionist execution. Evoking a sense of broad awareness in what the subject is doing while allowing the viewer a glimpse of an intimate interaction.
